I am Widya Ade Permana. Most people call me Alvian. I draw and paint the things that usually get left out of the frame: creatures, spirits, deities, and faces that will not hold still. Self taught, no degree to wave about, and stubborn about that.
The short version
I started learning this in 2011 and have not stopped since. My schooling was technical engineering, which sounds unrelated right up until you need someone who works under pressure, keeps things accurate, and does not miss a deadline. For almost six years I ran a spa reception desk in Bali while freelancing as a designer after hours, which is a polite way of saying I learned to talk to people and to Photoshop at the same time.
The art is dark. The way it is shown is not: quiet type, a lot of empty space, then something unpleasant in the middle of it. There is usually a joke underneath, which is the only thing keeping it out of edgelord territory.
What I actually do all day
Boutique Villas Bali
Full stack websites, design and graphic work, photography, photo and video editing, blog writing, the IT nobody else wants to touch, and flying the drone when a villa needs to look its best. If it lives on a screen or comes off a camera, it tends to land on my desk.
Bali Home Rental
The same broad job, roughly a year of it. Sites, graphics, photos, edits, and whatever needed fixing that week.
Bali Dignity
Around a year and a half, same remit. This is where the habit of doing a bit of everything got properly set.
Freelance artist and web maker
Websites for organisations, hospitals, and a few people who found me by accident. Illustration and character design for anyone who wants a monster of their own.
